head injury. The patient was rapidly transported to a local area trauma center with firefighter paramedics
maintaining patient care.

On September 16, units from the Moreno Valley Battalion responded to a reported person down suffering from
traumatic injuries in College Park Fire Station 91’s primary response area. Units arrived on scene to find a solo
vehicle that had been involved in a minor traffic collision with four people, one of which was discovered in the
street next to the vehicle. The victim presented with multiple injuries, pulseless, and not breathing. Firefighter
paramedics immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support (ALS)
interventions which included advanced airway placement and bleeding control. The victim was loaded for rapid
transport in critical condition. Once at the hospital, aggressive resuscitative efforts both by Fire Department
personnel and emergency department staff kept the victim fighting for his life. The outcome for the patient is
unknown. The other three people in the vehicle had no medical complaints and denied treatment and
transport.

On September 17, Fire Department units from the Moreno Valley Battalion and Riverside City Fire Department
were dispatched to a reported child drowning in Towngate Fire Station 6’s primary response area. The first
arriving engine company arrived on scene and confirmed a 5-year-old unconscious and unresponsive after
being pulled from a swimming pool. Despite the resuscitative efforts of firefighter paramedics, the child
succumbed to her injuries. The Riverside County Fire Department Chaplin Services were requested to respond
to Station 6 for debriefing after the incident. The debriefing included Fire Department personnel and American
Medical Response paramedics.

On September 18, units from the Moreno Valley Battalion responded to reports of a structure fire in Kennedy
Park Fire Station 65’s primary response area. Upon arrival, the first unit reported smoke and flames coming
from the rear of the structure. Through a coordinated exterior attack and ventilation provided by Sunnymead
Truck 2, the fire was quickly contained to the area of origin in the back patio with extension into a bedroom
and bathroom. The cause for the fire is undetermined.

On September 21, Fire Department units from the Moreno
Valley Battalion responded to a reported traffic collision with
possible ejections in College Park Fire Station 91’s primary
response area. The first arriving engine company reported
one full size SUV on its side with one victim requiring
extrication. Sunnymead Truck 2 personnel performed the
extrication while Firefighter paramedics from Engine 91
treated the patient. The patient was extricated and
transported from the scene to a local area trauma center
with Fire Department personnel maintaining patient care.

On September 21, units from the Moreno Valley Battalion
responded to a reported person down in Moreno Beach Fire
Station 58’s primary response area. Fire Department personnel arrived on scene to find a 65-year-old male in
cardiac arrest, pulseless and not breathing. An advanced airway was placed, cardiac medications were
administered, and the patient was defibrillated twice on scene. Due to resuscitative efforts the patient
regained pulses with a viable blood pressure. The patient was quickly transported to Riverside University Health
Systems (RUHS) for further medical care. Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient had a confirmed STEMI, a ST-
segment elevation myocardial infarction, which was identified by Firefighter paramedics in the field. A critical
care transport was scheduled from RUHS to Riverside Community Hospital, a (STEMI) receiving facility, for
specialized cardiac care.

On September 28, Fire Department units from the Moreno Valley Battalion responded to reports of a structure
fire in Moreno Beach Fire Station 58’s primary response area. The first arriving engine company reported a
single story single family residence with the attached garage fully involved. Fire Department personnel initiated
