Treasury Operations
New Business License webpage
Visit the new business license website at www.moval.org/biz-lic.. The new site has been developed in order to
provide easier access and more information for businesses coming into town and those that already have
business licenses. The website includes information on who needs a business license, what information is
needed, how to renew an existing license and the portal for on-line renewals along with contact information
and information on the Hire-MoVal program.
Electric Utility Division
Public Power Week
Moreno Valley Utility celebrated Public Power Week, held from October 2 – 8, 2016. On October 4, MVU staff
received from the City Council a Proclamation recognizing Public Power Week. On October 6, MVU staff met
with many MVU customers at the AM/PM Arco Station on Moreno Beach (an MVU customer). Topics of
discussion included information about Public Power Week, MVU, and many of the programs that are
available to MVU customers. MVU staff is grateful to Mike Patel, owner of the AM/PM Arco Station.
City Hall Updates: The Request for Proposal
for the proposed solar carport project for City
Hall has been posted on PlanetBids. The bid
award for construction is tentatively
scheduled for council approval on December
20, 2016. This project will not only provide a
solar generation facility for MVU, but will also
have the added benefit of covered parking for
employees and visitors to City Hall.
Additionally, the electric vehicle project at
City Hall will begin construction in November
2016, with anticipated completion date by
December 31, 2016.
Financial Operations Division
Annual Audits and Preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
The professional accounting firm of Vasquez & Company, LLP is onsite for four weeks performing their intensive
audit work of the City’s accounting processes and financial statements. The audit process is moving forward
and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the year ended June 30, 2016 will be presented to
the Finance Subcommittee and the City Council in December. Also under intensive review are the federal and
state award expenditures in which our Single Audit Report will be late December.
Additionally, we are undergoing our annual audit and review of Child Care, Gas Tax, Measure A, and
Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) programs.
