• Citizens Patrol – Conduct uniformed high-visibility patrol in marked patrol units;
• Front Office Assistants - Assist front office personnel with day to day activities;
• Incident Call Outs - Respond to major incidents within the City to assist with perimeter security, road
closures, and searching for lost hikers/missing persons;
• City Wide Camera System – review camera footage and assist with gathering information on calls for
service, as well as proactive monitoring of parks and problem or high crime areas.

On August 1, 2016, the Community Services Team worked with community organizations to fulfill the wishes
of a family with five children. The youngest child has a degenerative disease which will ultimately causes
blindness. The child’s wish was to visit with police officers, K-9’s, and see the workings of a police department.
The family was brought to the Moreno Valley Police Department to experience a day in the life of a police
officer to include riding in a police car, and visiting with K-9 “Ozzi.”

• Driver safety presentations

The MVPD Traffic Team responded to the following miscellaneous traffic calls:
54 reckless driver calls, 33 traffic hazard calls, 54 abandoned vehicle calls, and 13 disabled vehicle calls.

On August 19, 2016, the Moreno Valley Traffic Team conducted a DUI checkpoint in the area of Alessandro and
Day Street from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. The checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. 485
vehicles were screened at the checkpoint. Two subjects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
