Halloween Pet Adoption Event Results

During the Artoberfest Pet Adoption Event held at the Animal Shelter on October 8 , 24 pets were adopted
along with one pet that was reclaimed by its owner. During the Halloween Pet Adoption Event held at the
Animal Shelter on October 28-29, 46 pets were adopted along with 5 pets that were reclaimed by their
owners. Both events offered dog adoptions for $50 and cats for $15.

Update on Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) Program:
The Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) pilot program was implemented by the Animal Services Division on October
21, 2015. The goal of the program is to reduce the over-population of feral cats within the community. During
the month of August, 53 feral cats were altered and returned to the field. The goal of the program is to
reduce the overpopulation of feral cats within the community. A total of 395 feral cats have been saved since
the program’s inception. Feral cats that are removed from areas in close proximity to schools and businesses
are not selected as TNR candidates but do remain available to interested animal rescue organizations. During
the month of September 2016, 69 feral cats were altered and returned to the field

Due to the ongoing success of the pilot program and a $25,000 grant awarded by the PetCo Foundation, the
program is expected to continue over the next two years.
Girl Scout Troop 155 Helps Shelter Pets

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter would like to thank Girl Scout Troop
155 (pictured at right) for stopping by and bringing donations for the
animals. The troop brought in a number of items such as towels, food,
toys, beds, newspapers and also a monetary donation. Thank you girls!
The shelter staff and animals greatly appreciate your kindness and
support.
Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination & Low-Cost Microchipping Clinic Results

On Saturday, October 1 , the Animal Shelter held a low cost rabies vaccination and dog licensing clinic at the
Animal Shelter. Dog and cat owners took advantage of the reduced pet vaccination fees, being able to renew
or purchase their dog’s license, as well as purchase a HomeAgain microchip for only $10.
