PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFFS (PSPS)
You may have heard of the recent Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events that were implemented in October by PG&E,
SCE, and SDG&E, impacting thousands of customers. When there are potentially dangerous weather conditions in fire-prone
areas, power is proactively turned off in high fire risk areas to reduce the threat of wildfires. MVU customers can rest easy
knowing that, in the event of any precautionary SCE PSPS event that affect MVU’s system, the City’s electric utility could
switch affected customers to another power circuit, minimizing any outages. MVU has taken great strides to build a robust
underground electric system that provides reliability and flexibility for the benefit of its customers.
