City of Moreno Valley to Honor our Nation's Heroes at the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony

Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, the City Council and the City of Moreno Valley invite the community to honor our nation's heroes during the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center Veterans Memorial.
"Each year, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we gather together to celebrate and honor our veterans who bravely stepped up to serve our country," said Mayor Gutierrez. "I invite everyone to join us for a ceremony of reverence and tribute befitting of a proud military town like Moreno Valley."
This year's keynote speaker will be Col. Erik L. Aufderheide, Commander of the 452nd Air Mobility Wing. The ceremony will feature an unveiling of banners and pavers honoring Moreno Valley residents who served in the military, a proclamation designating Moreno Valley as a Purple Heart City, and performances from the Canyon Springs High School Madrigals and the Rancho Verde High School Air Force JROTC.
The Civic Center Veterans Memorial, located at 14177 Frederick Street, features a monument with large granite panels upon which the names of Moreno Valley soldiers killed in action are inscribed. The Memorial's centerpiece is a battlefield cross bronze statue, “Fallen Soldier,” which consists of a pair of military boots, an M16 rifle with the barrel down between the boots, and a combat helmet on top.

La Ciudad de Moreno Valley Honrará a los Héroes de Nuestra Nación en la Ceremonia del Día de los Veteranos de 2022
El alcalde Yxstian Gutiérrez, el Concejo Municipal y la Ciudad de Moreno Valley invitan a la comunidad a honrar a los héroes de nuestra nación durante la Ceremonia del Día de los Veteranos de 2022 el viernes 11 de noviembre a las 11 a.m. en el Civic Monumento a los Veteranos del Centro.
"Cada año, en la hora 11 del día 11 del mes 11, nos reunimos para celebrar y honrar a nuestros veteranos que valientemente dieron un paso al frente para servir a nuestro país", dijo el Alcalde Gutiérrez. "Invito a todos a unirse con nosotros para una ceremonia de reverencia y tributo digna de un orgulloso pueblo militar como Moreno Valley".
El orador principal de este año será el Coronel Erik L. Aufderheide, Comandante de la 452ª Ala de Movilidad Aérea. La ceremonia contará con la presentación de pancartas y adoquines en honor a los residentes de Moreno Valley que sirvieron en el ejército, una proclamación que designa a Moreno Valley como una Ciudad del Corazón Púrpura y actuaciones de los Madrigals de la Escuela Secundaria Canyon Springs y el JROTC de la Fuerza Aérea de la Escuela Secundaria Rancho Verde.
El Civic Center Veterans Memorial, ubicado en 14177 Frederick Street, cuenta con un monumento con grandes paneles de granito en los que están inscritos los nombres de los soldados de Moreno Valley muertos en acción. La pieza central del Memorial es una estatua de bronce en forma de cruz del campo de batalla, "Soldado caído", que consiste en un par de botas militares, un rifle M16 con el cañón hacia abajo entre las botas y un casco de combate en la parte superior.
