How Alert MoVal Works

Alert MoVal is the City of Moreno Valley’s emergency alert and warning notification system, which rapidly sends notifications to all residents and businesses in an affected area when there's an emergency or disaster.

• Landline telephones automatically received call from Alert MoVal to listed and unlisted phone numbers in the affected area and delivers a recorded message. If phone lines are busy, the system redials those telephone numbers attempting to make contact. If an answering machine picks up the call, the emergency message is left on the voicemail.
  
• Mobile phone and SMS users will automatically receive Alert MoVal text messages for subscribers with an address matching an affected area.
  
• Email recipients will automatically receive Alert MoVal emails for subscribers with an address matching an affected area.
  

Alert MoVal messages are highly infrequent and the City only uses it to broadcast emergency information.
The City of Moreno Valley assumes no responsibility if an emergency message cannot be delivered or is not received.
