Moreno Valley Suspends Penalties and Interest on Late Payment of Fees and Fines During Restricted City Hall Operations

For Penalties Incurred from March 18 Through April 15

For immediate release: March 19, 2020

Recognizing the financial hardship caused by the coronavirus crisis, as part of its plan for restricting City Hall operations, Moreno Valley is giving residents a break by suspending penalties and interest for late payment of utility bills, parking citations, business license fees, and library fines incurred beginning March 18, 2020, through April 15, 2020.

"We want people to look after their health right now, not concern themselves about interest on a fee they owe the City," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "We are laser-focused right now on the well-being of residents."

The City Council declared a local emergency at its March 17 meeting and closed all City facilities to the public through April 15, or until further notice, to minimize the chances of spreading the coronavirus.
